From Madeleine F White with Sea Crow Press
Madeleine F White, author, poet and co-creation pioneer, charts her life in verses that eviscerate, challenge, demand, comfort and amuse in equal measure. By sharing her own path from lost to found with her Horse, her Truth and her Faith to guide her, these poems become way markers for others seeking to reclaim the sacred power in their own lives.
Starting with The Horse And The Girl and continuing With Maiden Mother Crone, this extraordinary series offers a path of hope, healing and ultimately self-expression. Culminating in Maiden, Mother, Crone: The Anthology, it invites all those who find themselves responding to Madeleine’s work to use their own verse to open up opportunities for growth and self-discovery and challenges women and our allies to come together to express experiences of the feminine through shared values, ideas and stories in different settings, particularly through nature and the natural world.
‘I’ll weave pixels into promises and shared words into prayers of hope,
and so transform this world of men to somewhere crones can fly again.’
The Crossing Places Series
Book I
The Horse And The Girl
Discovering: Conversations in verse between the ‘Girl’ – a woman in middle age - and her horse, engage with the big questions and the emotional states in which we live. The collection invites us to look beyond the road they ride on and beyond the page the ‘Girl’ writes, into the beating heart of our natural world and the relationships it contains.
A critical message in The Horse And The Girl is, that in order to be able to nourish the place in us that gives us spiritual, mental and physical strength, we need to have the courage to follow where the ride takes us, allowing the old ways and green places foster the stillness within us.
Book II
Maiden Mother Crone
Unfolding: A memoir in verse, created by accessing that stillness Madeleine first discovered on horseback, this is an unflinching portrayal of trauma, motherhood, addiction, recovery and ultimately hope. The stories are connected, as is the resolution.
Mother Maiden Crone takes us on a journey from ‘mother goddess’ to modern faith, taking its cues from the older, more matriarchal nature of Celtic and Nordic traditions. With inclusion and spiritual expression at the heart of it, the collection calls upon us to find a new way to be and to connect; reminding us that as ‘Maidens, Mothers and Crones’ we speak the same fundamental truths the world over.
Book III
Maiden Mother Crone
The Anthology
Connecting: Building community through poetry. Edited by Madeleine F White and poetry publisher Mary Petiet – and drawn from poems written in response to those in Maiden, Mother, Crone – this anthology harnesses the powerful connection women have, no matter who they are or where they come from.
By speaking her own truth, Madeleine’s work is an open invitation to other women to tell what matters to them through a place of empowered creativity.
This explosive expression of the spiritual feminine allows tribes of seekers, creators and survivors to come together to rewrite what we’re told we should be, into who we actually are.
